Apple picking season

This afternoon we borrowed some fruit pickers and had a very successful apple and pear picking session from some of our neighbours trees. We were greatly helped by the climbing skills of our young helpers, who made it to the top of a pear tree and shook down loads of the fruit. Two of the neighbours who came outside to watch us were delighted to see the apples being put to good use, and one even confided her best crumble recipe.

We’ll be at the Brookfield School parents’ afternoon this Thursday with a fruit press, making fresh local juice with the kids.
