Energy metering competition

Join our new project – we’ll be giving households in the area a simple to use home energy meter, to help monitor and reduce electricity use over a few months.

The process will be simple and fun, and our facilitators will advise and take care of logging the data. We’ll also give advice on cutting energy use with workshops – including ‘low-carbon cooking’, and we’ll get together regularly and compare notes over a few drinks.
The project is based on a pilot run by HICAN last year called HEMP which worked with a few ‘clusters of households, to great effect. We have also been inspired by a project in Totnes called Transition Streetswhich had a great effect on the community beyond energy saving, and is now rolling out in different towns across the UK.
We aim to start in January and would like to sign up as many as people as possible to take part between now and then, so please do spread the word to friends and neighbours. If you’d like to take part, please email transitiondp@gmail.com
